Balothia
Fire & Water.
Two elements that rarely share a room find one here. Balothia is a pair of handmade ceramic cylinders from Crete — a pale glaze, a band of bare terracotta, a single round opening. Light a candle in one. Fill the other with water and a branch. The form stays the same; the evening changes.

A flame, or a stem
The same vessel holds either, never asking which. Some nights it keeps a small fire; other days it carries cut flowers and a little water. Left empty, it is simply good to look at.

Made by hand in Crete
Two forms, one low and one tall, share the same width and rounded opening. Clay is shaped by hand, smoothed and glazed, giving each piece its own character. No two are exactly alike.
